Part I. "I come from childhood"
In 1921, Antoine learns that a volunteer aviation regiment is being formed in Strasbourg. It is still difficult to say whether he is attracted to aviation, but after much deliberation, he firmly believes that architecture is not for him. De Saint-Exupery went to Alsace, which, according to the Treaty of Versailles, went to the French. Enrolling in a flight regiment was tantamount to a leap into the unknown.
Private de Saint-Exupery was enlisted in the non-flying composition. On the fuselages of aircraft that participated in the First World War, and then found their "home port" near Strasbourg, there were images of storks - the symbol of Alsace. It is clear that no one was going to teach the young replenishment to fly, neither on the "storks" fanned with military glory, nor on the "whatnot". Antoine was sent to repair shops.

De Saint-Exupery had not yet become an apprentice pilot, as he was assigned to teach a theoretical course on internal combustion engines and aerodynamics. The acquired knowledge, passion for mechanics and drawings were not in vain. Now he taught these disciplines to his comrades.
Antoine was tired of life in the barracks. The inability to be alone with himself traumatizes his sound vector. It is necessary to prepare for lectures for cadets on the theory of internal combustion engines and on aerodynamics. The barracks is not a place for an urethral-sound "leader".
De Saint-Exupery is seeking permission to move into a rented apartment. In the territory where the regiment was stationed, he rarely happens at all, showing up there for a check or to perform regular orders. Family happiness or a dangerous profession
There are many legends about his training in flying: the student was so eager for the sky that, not having learned to land, he took off without a teacher. And in addition to this, the engine of his plane allegedly caught fire in the air. Whether these were ordinary stories is difficult to say now, but knowing Antoine's urethral recklessness, one can believe in them.
Having mastered the skills of flying an airplane, Saint-Exupéry goes to Morocco with the intention of obtaining the license of a military pilot. There, in North Africa, Antoine acquired a winged profession, rare for those times, and for the first time discovered the beauty of the desert. He is so inspired by Sahara that he makes sketches all his free time, completely forgetting about literature.
The euphoria from receiving flight documents quickly passed. The service was approaching the end, there is no war, what is the use of the profession received. Saint-Ex is again experiencing unclear psychological shortcomings. “For the urethral, the profession is not important, for him the main thing is to realize himself in the qualities of a leader, which manifested themselves in this world through his birth,” Yuri Burlan says at lectures on systemic vector psychology.

Night flights were the most difficult. Rain and dampness destroyed the wooden structures of the aircraft. The impenetrable fog forced the pilots to fly at random, directing the car either to the open sea or to the coastal rocks.
Antoine returns to France. He now often visits Paris, where he met a girl of his circle. The deal with the engagement was agreed upon, when suddenly during one of the training flights his plane, barely picking up speed and taking off from the ground, fell to the ground. Saint Ex was seriously injured. The bride's parents put Tonio before a choice: "Family happiness or a dangerous profession."
Antoine did not accept the ultimatum. System-vector psychology explains the character of a person with a urethral vector as incapable of obeying and any dictate. The conservatism of the representatives of the French nobility, to which Antoine himself belonged, did not correspond to the changes taking place in the world of wars and revolutions of the first quarter of the twentieth century. De Saint-Exupery was suffocating in the world of chatterboxes and idlers, carrying their dusty traditions and hopelessly outdated aristocratic values, petty thoughts, tuned in only to "where to have fun today."
Social transformation in a revolutionary way is not a discipline that could attract Antoine's attention. Much more important, he considered the relationship between people. De Saint-Exupery did not divide humanity into races and nationalities. He equally helped a Frenchman captured by the Moors or a Spaniard wounded by the Republicans. He could use his savings to ransom a poor Moroccan from slavery from African slave traders, loan him money and let him go home.

Mail pilot
After the accident, Antoine remains in Paris and tries to find something to do that would bring at least a little money. The job of an employee at a tile factory is clearly not for him, but a career in the truck sales department begins with a job as a worker at an automobile plant.
His hands, familiar with motors and mechanisms, are not afraid of any work. He is not inferior to the most skilled workers with whom he easily finds a common language. He is more attracted to people "tightly connected with life, with the need to eat, feed their children and hold out until the next paycheck …"
De Saint-Exupery went up to the position of sales clerk. But he only managed to sell one truck. Soon he receives an offer to go to Toulouse and start work as a mail pilot.
Europe was still alive with war and revolutions, and some far-sighted entrepreneurs were already thinking about using military aircraft for peaceful purposes. They were treated like crazy, but their confidence attracted those who, after the end of the war, threatened to be left behind.
This primarily concerned pilots and aircraft mechanics. It was decided to use the craft they acquired for the peaceful development of airspace. This is how the idea of creating "Air Lines" was born, which would deliver mail from one continent to another. At its origins were the same urethral sounds as de Saint-Exupery, looking into the future and bringing it closer.
On the one hand, this disorganized enterprise bore the character of a crazy idea, on the other hand, it was a brilliant improvisation. The pilot took all responsibility for the transportation of mail. If the plane's engine failed, the fuel supply stopped, then the pilot was in a hurry to deliver bags of mail to the nearest railway station. She was rescued from sinking planes, for which a narrow edge of the beach was enough for a takeoff run.
At Air Lines, de Saint-Exupery again starts in the workshops with repairing engines, with lessons in meteorology and navigation. He tests refurbished aircraft, waits for his turn to fly over the Pyrenees, plow through fogs and snowstorms.
One day this day came.
