The film "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" was staged in 1975 based on the book of the same name by Ken Kesey, who wrote it as a result of long practice in the insane asylums of America. All the heroes were written out by him in detail and systematically: sound people hiding from reality, arguing about meanings and making suicide attempts, anal-visual men with a good boy's complex and sometimes urethral Leaders who get there. Hyperactive and uncontrolled, they are brought into the account of a psychiatrist in childhood in order to prescribe sedative medication for them - insubordination is alien, incomprehensible and unnecessary for the Western society striving for standardization and order.
What is the main character smiling at? Why is he like that? Why does he fight and, even if he does not win, still infects others with his freedom? There is no answer in the film, but the answer is in Yuri Burlan's System-Vector Psychology.

When watching the film, the first thoughts arise that this is a picture about a loner who fights against the "system", a noble rebel, a collective image of the "hippie" of the 60s of America. Who is he - a noble rebel?
A hot heart that does not know the framework and laws, unlimited sexuality and a sense of heightened justice, a love of passion and a dominant gaze give out in him a representative of the urethral vector. Before us is the Leader, who has not found his flock and therefore, in the absence of a definite purpose of his existence, who wastes his life in fights, drinking and entertainment with women. The framework of America's skin law is not for him, and he ends up in prison with enviable regularity, which, of course, does not change his character.
For those around him, his behavior is atypical, because they live by discipline and submission. This is a natural guarantor of their survival. And if there is such a lump of uncontrollable energy nearby, it means that he is abnormal, and his place is in an insane asylum. Where our hero finds himself after several conclusions. There are no direct indications for such an appointment, but the hero's behavior does not fit into the worldview of Western society, and this raises doubts about his "normality".
Found his flock
In the hospital, the protagonist McMurphy immediately takes responsibility for the life and well-being of patients who, by the will of fate, are in the same room with him, and, as if embodying the wishes of the viewer, pulls them out of the clutches of a ruthless nurse, teaches basketball, and helps them in everything. They are charged with his energy and begin to be active, turning from miserable vegetables into people. And no windows and doors are a limitation for this.
McMurphy frankly does not understand why he is not like everyone else, if he lives by the same motivations as those around him: he eats, drinks, sleeps with women when he wants, fights - and in this he is no worse than others.
Does the medical council question his mental health? He runs away with his pack of madmen, and together they catch more fish than the head doctor could catch, which he is so proud of.
There are no restrictions: no and never will. His trademark urethral grin, the way he smiles, indicates his contempt for any laws and frameworks. The roommate asks for cigarettes, but they don't give him? It is necessary to break the window of the nurse's room, where they lie, and give them, because they are needed by a comrade. This is the essence of the urethral measure - to give according to shortages.
Our hero
The Western viewer asks the question: why on the decisive night, when the escape was planned, the main character got drunk and did not run away? Why didn't you jump out the open window to save your life? What did he know if he didn't? After all, this is exactly what a "normal" person should have done.
And he was far from wanting to save his own skin. He got drunk as a lord and rejoiced to unconsciousness that his flock was having fun with him, and they were nicely boozing, trashing everything around: to walk like that! His flock was with him, and it was not possible to leave them to be torn apart in the morning by the orders of the hospital. Responsibility for their neighbors, and not for themselves - this is what the hero unconsciously shows. And if he ran away, then he would have abandoned those for whom he stood like a mountain - betrayed.
What does the Russian TV viewer see in front of him? He sees his mental values, his thoughts and his actions - he sees himself. McMurphy is close to us, his behavior is to our hearts, which is why the film is becoming a cult film in Russia.
The Russian person, in turn, does not understand why this hero interfered with society? Why torture a person in an insane asylum? Does he fight and drink? And who doesn't fight and drink? This is how an unrealized urethral person behaves. Hooligans like this one in Russia are understandable and even adored by women. In the realized state, their energy directs groups of people into the future, and sometimes entire generations. But Western society unconsciously does not accept this: the threat to the rational skin order must be eliminated.
Energy without purpose
Our hero breaks out "out of the flags" without an idea and direction. He is strong and boundless in his mercy aimed at bestowal, but he is not aware of the consequences of his actions, although he is warned about them. After all, if he had a goal for the whole pack, then she would follow him without any wrangling.
Energy without a goal … This is something that is still characteristic of Russia: to live, not very clearly knowing where to move and why. Now, if there was an idea, then this life would stop half-heartedly. There is a feeling that we can do more, but we show only unlimited recklessness, we burn our lives without defining something else important, fundamental, which can collectively unite and move forward.
How can this end? In the film, the medical board decides in favor of psychotherapeutic work with the main character. But when she fails, what awaits him?
From a conversation of one of the hospital patients, an Indian, with McMurphy: “My father was big. He behaved as he wanted. That's why they worked with him. The last time I saw him, he was blind and could barely keep up with alcohol. Every time he touched the bottle, she drank it, not he drank her. It was so dry and yellow that the dogs did not recognize it.
- He was killed?
“I'm not saying he was killed. They've worked on it. How they will work on you."
McMurphy was lobotomized, and his Indian friend, not wanting to leave his beloved companion in such a state, strangled him with a pillow.
Skin mentality versus urethral values
It is clear to everyone that the Russian and the American (European) are different. This does not require proof, since it lies in the area of our sensations, which are daily confirmed by diametrically opposite attitudes towards the most diverse phenomena of life - the law, juvenile justice, homosexual relations, the role of men and women in society and other issues of life. And even if outwardly we are the same, but mentally - at different poles.
Why do we have different perceptions of life? Because historically and geographically, the perception of the world of different peoples from generation to generation was formed in different ways. And the system of values that our peoples are guided by has also formed differently.
System-vector psychology of Yuri Burlan shows that the West has a mentality based on the peculiarities of the manifestation and values of the skin vector. On the basis of this mentality, for hundreds of years, the policy of "divide and conquer" was carried out, characteristic of the olfactory vector, which by its nature is complementary to the cutaneous one. Guided by the values of these two vector measures, the West has managed to build an effective management and survival system, far ahead of all others.
Russia, however, has always been a counterweight to the West solely because of the difference in mentality. The broad soul of the Russian person, who knows no boundaries and laws, is due to the presence of a urethral mentality in Russians, diametrically opposite in values to the skin mentality, and therefore is not clear to a Western person by the very fact of its existence. It always remains incomprehensible to the West, unconsciously perceived as an unpredictable danger.
It is unclear how (that is, "for what money") the emerging scientific discoveries, hydrogen bombs and fifth-generation aircraft, the strength of an army that wins wars almost in hand-to-hand combat, cause wariness and discomfort. Russia, like a felt boot from a well-known anecdote thrown accidentally on a red button, seems like a serious threat.
The film "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" is the best way to understand how people with a skin mentality are not able to perceive the values of the urethral vector even at the level of ordinary human relations.
If the representatives of the urethral vector fail to fit into the restrictions (and they do not succeed in this), the control framework overtakes them, in particular, in the form of a lobotomy. This even affected President J. Kennedy's elder sister Rosemary. When she was 23 years old, her family forced her to undergo surgery for her uncontrolled behavior, difficult relationships with siblings and “shameful interest in boys”, as a result of which she fell into childhood and lived out life in absolute dementia in an insane asylum.
The cutaneous society does not know that, by stopping the vital energy of the urethral organs, it deprives itself of development, of the future.
To the rest of the world, the "mysterious Russian soul" has always seemed incomprehensible and dangerous.
