I want to become a psychologist. Let them teach me! Or how to consciously choose a profession

The choice of psychology as a profession is very different from all other fields of activity. Its peculiarity is in "reverse" motivation. What the first year students are voicing is a very superficial understanding of the reasons. The underlying motivation is often not understood, even by themselves.

Not only high school students, but also their parents are puzzled by the problem of “professional definition”. In fact, there is no such thing as "professional definition", there is - self-determination. And this is essential, because the opportunity to realize oneself in what you love is a guarantee of a person's psychological comfort.

Today, the self-determination of high school students is very difficult, because few of them can answer the question "Who do I want to become in adulthood?" Parents know this firsthand.

If psychology is studied, does it mean someone needs it?

Teachers of psychology from year to year note the same phenomenon. First-year students, answering the question about the reasons for choosing the profession of a psychologist, voice two main motivations: some want to answer their own vital questions, others are afraid to take mathematics. The second in percentage terms significantly prevail over the first.

As a result, the first few make good theorists, and the second few make good psychologists. In addition, the majority of graduates always remain who never realize themselves in the profession, even if they call themselves psychologists.

Being among the latter is an unenviable prospect. The spent five years of life and, often, considerable amounts of parental money do not give the right to be a bad psychologist. How to be good?

Psychology is when vice versa

The choice of psychology as a profession is very different from all other fields of activity. Its peculiarity is in "reverse" motivation. What the first year students are voicing is a very superficial understanding of the reasons. The underlying motivation is often not understood, even by themselves.

The bottom line is that, choosing any other profession, young people have an idea of what they will do, and this is interesting to them. They most likely observed this activity in life, or even tried to practice at a level that was within their reach.

The choice of the profession of a psychologist often comes from the opposite - a person enters the Faculty of Psychology in order to understand himself, to realize his desires, to determine his life plans and profession.

The reason for this is the lack of a formed self-consciousness or "I-concept".

Paradox or regularity?

Psychology as a science has existed relatively recently - just over 100 years. At first glance, this is strange, because psychology studies a person, and his age is calculated for centuries.

This phenomenon can be explained by the fact that in people in past generations, questions about themselves were not as much actualized as they are now. The questions of self-awareness were not so acute that there was a need to create a whole separate science and an evidence base for it. And the questions that psychology as a science is called upon to answer are actually eternal: "Who am I?", "How do I differ from others?", "Why do I live?" and "What is the meaning of life?"

For several decades, the flow of students to psychology departments has not diminished. The paradox is that traditional psychology is still not able to unambiguously answer the question "What is I?" But freshmen don't know about it yet …

How many people, so many opinions

Until now, W. James, C. Cooley, E. Erickson, K. Rogers, A. Maslow and others have worked on the problem of self-awareness. Scientists, being representatives of different psychological schools, have created many theories, each of which reflects not so much the process of self-awareness subject, how many features of the worldview and worldview of the researchers themselves.

Anyone who seeks to realize himself through the approaches adopted in the current science, such a mismatch only misleads, because in psychology there is still no single idea of the subject being studied - the human "I". This means that a single answer to the question "who am I?" also no.

The discovery of our time

System-vector psychology of Yuri Burlan can rightfully be called the discovery of our time in the field of human psychology. She studies the properties, abilities and desires of the personality, which form in a person his "I". But he does this not indiscriminately generalizing the observations of scientists, but from eight points of view, proceeding from the fact that each person is a bearer of a different set of vectors, respectively, has a different, but strictly defined mental structure.

The vector defines a set of mental properties and corresponding desires and abilities. Having a comprehensive understanding of the properties and desires manifested in vectors, one can understand all the mental characteristics of thinking, sexuality, as well as claims, beliefs, values of people and with a very high probability predict behavioral reactions in various situations, success or failure in one or another activity. Those. understanding the essence of vectors and defining them in a person makes him predictable and it is easy to double-check in practice. This is the indisputable advantage of the system-vector approach of Yuri Burlan (there is no other system-vector psychology).

As a result of studying SVP at the training of Yuri Burlan, an objective understanding of a person and his psyche appears. This is achieved through the formation of a new level of thinking - a systemic one, which allows one to perceive the observed phenomenon (both in oneself and in others) simultaneously from eight points of view, and not through oneself. As a result, there is a volumetric (eight-dimensional) awareness of the causes of any behavior - what psychology strives for - and an accurate understanding of ways to solve the problem, that is, psychocorrection and psychotherapy.

The result of this perception is the awareness of the human psyche as a single integral system of connections, where my "I" is inextricably linked with all the others, but at the same time everyone realizes the properties of his personality and chooses the most favorable path for their implementation.

This gives grounds to assert that a solution to the eternal problem of self-awareness has been found. The answer to the question "Who am I?" reconciles a person with himself, helps to realize and realize his strengths, forms an adequate attitude to the world around him. This is akin to the formation of the "I-concept", but wider and more voluminous, since a person is aware of the connection with other people. Systems thinking is a new, next stage on the path of self-knowledge of a person, which greatly expands the capabilities of the current, linear perception.

Systemic touches to the portrait of a psychologist

At the beginning of the article, we mentioned two main motivations that underlie the professional self-determination of psychologists. Each of them is just a touch to the portrait. But for a systemically thinking person, this is enough to characterize the individual psychological characteristics of students.

The leading vectors in the question of self-determination of psychologists are the upper vectors - sound and visual. Both the one and the other direct the carrier to an in-depth mastery of knowledge about the mental organization of a person. They can be attributed to the sphere of the intellectual orientation of the individual.

The sound vector tends to ask existential questions. The question of the meaning of life is key in this vector. Such people are introverted, strive for awareness and justification of complex processes by focusing, mental concentration on the issue under study. They look for the reasons hidden in the depths of the unconscious, aim to comprehend the perceived phenomena by means of their comprehension. Their way of knowing is thought. In scientific activity, they put forward hypotheses on the verge of provability, and then successfully confirm them. Thanks to the carriers of the sound vector, the boundaries of scientific knowledge are expanding.

It is the sound scientists who come to psychology for answers to existential questions.

The visual vector is characterized by a special sensitivity in observing the surrounding reality. He is characterized by natural extraversion and a high capacity for empathy. Such people perceive life sensually and experience it very emotionally. They strive for open interaction with people and are able to harmonize the psychological states of others through the creation of an emotional connection.

The life of a person with a visual vector runs in a wide emotional range - from fear to love. It is they, the spectators, who are afraid to take mathematics in entrance exams and, ironically, very soon come across mathematical statistics in psychology.

The realization of the aspirations of the upper vectors, which are responsible for intelligence, is impossible without "relying" on the lower ones, which are responsible for the strength of libido and adaptation to the landscape. The lower vectors determine the methods and means of achieving the desired. They provide practical human capabilities.

Psychologists most often have anal and cutaneous inferior vectors.

The anal vector makes its carrier, first of all, a professional. This vector endows a person with thoroughness, perseverance, and patience. Analytical thinking and introversion make it possible to qualitatively select and systematize data, evaluate them critically, and eliminate inaccuracies.

The anal vector tends to thoroughly explore the issue under study. The strong point is the analysis of literary sources. The manifestation of perfectionism in this vector helps to keep the chance of error to a minimum. The memory of anal people is adapted for the assimilation of practical experience and knowledge. Such people feel comfortable in teaching, they have a huge store of knowledge and are happy to share it. They are the keepers and translators of knowledge, experience and traditions.

The cutaneous vector is inherently the opposite of the anal, contrarian.

The carrier of the skin vector is an extrovert. At its core, he is a manager and legislator, focused on the management of social groups. The carrier of the skin vector possesses logical thinking. Feels comfortable in jurisprudence, military affairs, sports, business. He specializes in setting and achieving goals quickly.

The owner of the skin vector is able to live non-stop due to high adaptive abilities, not only physical, but also psychological. In addition, the skin vector is characterized by the desire to optimize resources (temporal, spatial, human, mental, material, monetary, etc.), to economically use them and increase them.

Skin people are innovators, engines of progress and inventors.

System of vectors in man

Today one-vector people are almost never found. Most often, a person combines from two to four vectors. The result is the addition of properties and the multiplication of opportunities for their implementation.

The described four vectors can be combined in various combinations (2, 3 or 4 vectors) in a person and constitute the nature of the bulk of people who seek themselves in psychology and parapsychological teachings. Depending on the degree of actualization of the need for the formation of the "I-concept", they can get carried away by esoterics, numerology, astrology, spiritual practices, religion. And the search leads someone to science.

I must say that the owners of the same vectors can successfully be realized in another profession. Much depends on the level of aspirations and the corresponding capabilities of the individual.

For example, a woman with a cutaneous and visual vector can equally well be a psychologist or a singer, TV presenter, possibly a translator, nurse, etc. And in the presence of the anal vector in connection with the skin and visual - a designer, director, etc. In the absence of a skin vector, an anal-visual woman will most likely feel good in teaching, art, social work, etc. Most of them will show interest in psychology to one degree or another, but not necessarily as their main profession.

Step towards yourself

Before getting a higher education in the field of psychology, before choosing a profession at all, it is highly desirable to master a systemic perception of oneself in connection with other people. This will save you from wasting time and money, and help answer the most pressing questions.

Knowledge of the system-vector psychology of Yuri Burlan fully satisfies the demand for professional self-determination.

The phenomenon of systemic perception, acquired in the course of training, remains forever and allows you to constantly deepen, expand knowledge about your own mental organization; makes it possible to understand much deeper the actions of other people and simply experience the pleasure of communicating with the outside world.
