Sound search for Andrey Konchalovsky. Film "Paradise"
This film is very unconventional. It is built in the form of the response of the film characters for their earthly life at the High Court. The scenes of the response to the Higher Power alternate with scenes-memories of various life events, one way or another related to the most important thing: did a person manage to accomplish what he came to earthly life for, does he deserve Paradise.
Why are we born in this world? What is the meaning of our life? Is there a God? Do heaven and hell exist? What is hidden behind the external picture of the surrounding world, behind the words and behavior of people? These questions disturb the mind of the representatives of the sound vector.
Director Andrei Konchalovsky, who also has a sound vector, seeks to answer these questions about the meaning in his work. In an interview, he says about it this way: “You know, every painting in general is made by the Artist if he is trying to understand something … He is trying to understand why we live at all, well, in principle, why … Any painting is dedicated to this. Another question is whether it was successful or not. Because there is no answer to this …"
In search of Paradise …
The film "Paradise" is especially interesting from the perspective of understanding human life.
The first action of the film begins in France during World War II. The main character, the aristocrat Olga Kamenskaya, the daughter of a Russian emigrant, came to France at the age of six with her mother. She is now over thirty years old. She participates in the Resistance movement. Olga saved two Jewish boys. She hid them at home from the persecution of the Nazis.
It would seem that the act is easily explainable - so many could do out of compassion. But others did not do that, it was she who wanted to save these children. And it's not just about compassion. Olga wanted to feel that she was not living in vain. And she did what she saw fit and sufficient to justify her own life.
For this act, she went to prison. And then to a concentration camp, where other prisoners lived with her in inhuman conditions. Olga speaks about this briefly at the Court: “It was scary only at the very beginning. And then it's not painful and not scary. Then it doesn't matter …"
Unexpected meetings
In a concentration camp, the heroine unexpectedly met the children she had saved. There was no limit to her amazement and indignation. After all, it was her "payment for paradise." This comforted Olga in all trials. She did a good deed. And suddenly everything was gone, a generous act seemed to be meaningless … Where is the highest justice and mercy? It turns out that everything was in vain? And she, like everyone else, did not do anything worthy of paradise?
In the camp, Olga took the boys under her wing. She took care of them as best she could, although she herself had to be inhumanly hard. Later, her situation was greatly facilitated, since one day she was noticed by a man who had once fallen in love with her, the German Helmut. Several years ago, they, in the common company of aristocrats, enjoyed the pleasures of life on vacation in Italy. Olga then did not respond to his feelings, she married another man.
And now he serves in the Nazi army as an SS officer. His task is to check the shortages in the concentration camp and to hand over the guilty to execution. Taking advantage of his official position, Helmut takes Olga to work as a cleaner in his apartment. He still loves her … When Helmut notices her in the warehouse where she works, sorting out the belongings of the murdered prisoners, he recognizes her even before he sees her face, by the curve of her neck. And he can't believe his eyes!..
Change inside and outside
Olga's life from this moment is transformed. She no longer suffers from hunger and terrible conditions. She is happy that she can again enjoy the benefits of civilization, which the prisoners of the concentration camp are deprived of. Enjoys simple things like showering, eating and drinking, and getting enough sleep. She and Helmut often watch videos of their carefree pre-war life. They are re-living those old days of rest in Italy … And at night she must return to the barrack.
Olga is torn apart by conflicting feelings. On the one hand, she is enjoying life again. She is surprised to herself that she began to think about her hair, about clothes. On the other hand, at times she wants to kill Helmut.
And one day an event happens that exceeds all Olga's expectations. That which she already could not even dream of. One fine day, Helmut suddenly says that he made the documents for her and will save her from this hell. They will leave together for Paraguay, but for now the passport gives the opportunity to travel to Switzerland. In a peaceful country, they will be able to live comfortably …
Olga, after all the horrors she has experienced, at first cannot even believe in such happiness. She seems to go crazy and begins to fight in some kind of unthinkable euphoria, shout out incredible things that Helmut and all the Nazis are benefactors and representatives of the superior race.
But Hellmuth does not share this enthusiasm. Once he came to serve in the SS for ideological reasons. Like many Germans, he idolized Hitler and was confident in the victory of the Nazi idea. But now he was already disappointed in the successful outcome of everything he had planned. And he sees that the end is near. He understands that the longed-for "paradise on earth for the Germans" can no longer be built …
Helmut is a finely educated person, intelligent and educated, a great lover of Chekhov's work. And with all this, like all almost Germans, he is dazzled by the idea of building a "German paradise". In this he sees the meaning of his whole life, which he will not renounce later, even at the High Court. But now Hitler's sick sound idea of the superiority of one nation over others is failing. Therefore, now the only thing Helmut wants is to save his beloved woman. In personal relationships, he is quite sensual and sincerely strives to help Olga.
How to get to Paradise
Meanwhile, in the camp of the boys rescued by Olga, another woman, Rosa, took under her protection. Olga was happy for the children, because she herself would not have been able to take care of them like that. And she was now in the barracks much less often. And suddenly this woman confessed that she was sick. And now she must be sent to the gas chamber as unfit for further labor. She wants to give Olga the savings and the last "forgive" for her daughter, who remained in Russia.
Here something unexpected happens to Olga, as if some kind of insight. She, having at once abandoned all bright plans for the future, makes a firm decision to go to the gas chamber instead of this woman. And thereby save the lives of Rosa and the boys, who will remain under her care.
Olga's earlier action was not wasted. Once she did a good deed, hid the children, but she failed to save them from the concentration camp. But now she has the opportunity to actually save them, giving her life for them, and justify herself before the Higher Power, to deserve paradise. And before that, the earthly paradise that was prepared for her by Helmut faded.
Suddenly, for her herself, everything earthly lost its meaning. And the heroine felt that there is nothing more than to give the most precious thing - her life - for other people. Now their life became more valuable to her than her own. And this was no longer the way Olga felt, saving the children for the first time. Then she was looking for a justification for her existence, but she still did not have an unconditional priority of the life of others over her own.
And now, in spite of all everyday logic and a seemingly natural desire to preserve herself, she felt a kind of inspiration. And she went the way of faith, which is higher than knowledge. Belief that there is something more valuable than your own life. And this is the life of others …
Olga made this only correct choice. And she did not find the meaning of life that seemed to her sufficient, which she invented in an attempt to justify her existence when she hid the children. It was already a real sense of total surrender. Now infinity opened before her. Olga finally found the longed-for paradise …
What is paradise systemically
System-vector psychology of Yuri Burlan helps to understand the hidden meaning of Olga's decision, so incomprehensible to many. To exchange a happy personal life in a safe country for death in a gas chamber so that, in general, people who are strangers to her survive. It's just that Olga's soul undergoes an internal transformation through a chain of the most difficult life events, in which her values change to diametrically opposite ones.
We come to Earth to go through the necessary path of development and ultimately find "Paradise". We come here selfish, striving to get as much pleasure as possible for ourselves. And if it were not for the trials that life sends us (and this is the great mercy of Nature), we would never have reached the climax of our development - we would never have known what pleasure comes from giving, life for other people. We could never change our intention from receiving to giving. Paradise for the soul is a life of bestowal.
System-vector psychology differentiates returns on the animal and spiritual levels. At the animal level, in the urethral vector, it is laid down by nature. Only the owner of the urethral vector enjoys bestowal, therefore it is the greatest happiness for him to sacrifice himself for the sake of others.
And there is also a spiritual bestowal, which can be achieved with the help of faith above knowledge, as the heroine of the film “Paradise” did. Changing the intention from receiving to giving, she found Paradise, that is, she achieved what she came into this world for.
Systemic thinking, which develops at the training of Yuri Burlan, is the path of opening the psyche, the human soul, understanding how the world and our interaction in it are arranged. When we stop perceiving the world only through ourselves and begin to see it objectively, through eight measures that form the human psyche and our entire reality, we realize that all people are a single whole.
Our psyche is one. Therefore, giving to others is like giving to yourself. Revealing the form in oneself, that is, understanding the other as oneself, a person naturally begins to live in bestowal, acquires the state of Paradise in his soul, while still on Earth. Begins to feel the crazy happiness of giving.
More than a movie …
Andrei Konchalovsky's Paradise is more than a movie. Heroes do not play, but live in special states, experience genuine emotions. And the viewer does not observe what is happening on the screen, but feels that he is next to each of them. He hears these confession stories live. They are told from the screen sincerely, without any embellishment, as if they are having a confidential conversation with the viewer, face to face.
At first, one gets the impression that documentary footage of a black-and-white chronicle flashes before us, and then it is generally forgotten that this is a film. Everything appears to the viewer as realistic as possible. Every event, word, gesture. You believe in heroes and live with them.
The director, talking about the filming of the film, says that he tried to force the artists not to act, but to live in the film. I created such situations for them to reveal to the viewer the invisible essence of a person, which cannot be played.
Andrei Konchalovsky considers the task of art to show what is invisible. As the owner of the sound vector, he brilliantly feels that behind the external picture of the world, behind the behavior and words of any person, there is hidden something that cannot be seen with the naked eye. And you can't play it. It can only be lived.
The film "Paradise" can rightfully be attributed to the world's masterpieces. This is undoubtedly the pinnacle of the great director's work. About further creative ideas Andrei Konchalovsky, faithful to the sound search for answers to eternal questions, says that his role for the people is not in journalism, but in making several more attempts as an artist to understand the human essence.
The master of his craft intends to continue to create. It remains only to wish him further success and inspiration. A sound genius who realizes his talent in this way is subject to any creative heights.
To see the invisible, to reveal the meanings hidden behind the external picture … This eternal sound desire can finally be fulfilled today. Any of the most mysterious secrets of the human soul is mathematically accurately revealed by the system-vector psychology of Yuri Burlan.
