The old, classic “beautiful” and “decent” cinema can no longer cope with its educational function, because we live in a different cultural context, when hostility in society, the volume and strength of frustrations are off scale, and nothing is able to restrain them - neither culture, no law. In the face of extreme risks of self-destruction of mankind, The Hateful Eight is exactly the film that needs to be watched and horrified.

Have you watched Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, or haven't you made up your mind? Perhaps you were shocked by what is happening on the screen, and the question of why to shoot such a movie haunts you. No gripping plot, no obvious meaning in a monotonous series of murders - one incessant cruelty and rivers of blood. Nothing human.

They will stop at nothing to snatch her out of the hands of justice. But those who “crave just punishment,” but in fact - money, are no better.

Throughout the action of the picture, the heroes methodically interrupt each other. Throughout the film - bloody vomit, blood-stained floor and spreading brains. Contrary to the canons of classical cinema, according to which a beautiful woman should be in the film, Daisy Domergue is disgusting and does not cause the slightest sympathy. By the end, no one survives.

The question involuntarily arises, where does such inhuman cruelty come from in a person? It is not even clear what the heroes of the film share. It's just that the Civil War has just passed and it is no longer clear who is right and who is wrong. People kill by inertia, because taboos that have been torn down no longer allow being human.

When culture bans break down

War is, first of all, murder. The animal is perfect and balanced with nature. And a person is out of balance with nature and begins to want more than is needed just to survive. And another person stands in the way of this more. There is a desire to kill him, extremely cruelly, in order to achieve some of his goals. Or even just like that, because you didn't like it, thus relieve your own frustrations and tension from dislike.

One of the consequences of the war is that not everyone succeeds in returning to their former human form.

In peacetime, a crime is just as disgusting, although its causes lie in individual distortions of mental development or frustrations from a person's non-realization.

Why such a movie?

The problem, not everyone realized, is that modern cinema often romanticizes the criminal way of life, setting false goals for entire generations.

Tarantino's film is distinguished by the truth of life. He is genius in that he carries with him cultural challenges that classic films cannot cope with today.

He shows the crime as it is. This movie should not be confused with thrillers, where a sick fantasy, divorced from real life, makes the owners of the visual vector emotionally sway.

These include "The Godfather", which once had huge box office receipts, the film "Intergirl", which pervertedly influenced a whole generation of women in post-perestroika Russia, the series "Brigade".

The creation of a romantic halo around crime contributes to the loss of moral and ethical restraints in society. This has an extremely negative effect on the collective psyche, because it causes the growth of psychopathologies. People begin to perceive crime positively. Their guidelines are changing: stealing is cool, throwing a sucker is normal, getting it at any cost is the top of implementation.

In a modern leather consumer society oriented towards material wealth, success and individualism, this can become a value system. It's scary when they talk about a criminal "talent", a "professional" thief or a "brilliant" killer. There can be no higher criminal realization. It is always a pathology that destroys both man and society.

Looking at the unsightly heroes of the film, the viewer willy-nilly takes with him the impression, the feeling that war is not a parade in beautiful uniforms and not an exciting western, murder is not a spectacular cowboy shot. War and crime are disgusting, scary, painful, disgusting.
