In this article, we will discuss the most common questions that concern parents of children diagnosed with autism in connection with their upbringing. How to respond to the child's protests to participate in a particular action? How can you help him adapt to changes in his daily routine? How to develop his skills and reduce aggressive reactions? A deeper understanding of the mental characteristics of children with autism from the point of view of System-Vector Psychology of Yuri Burlan will help to answer these and other questions.
According to system-vector psychology, an autistic child, like any other person, has several vectors from birth. Among them, the sound vector dominates, through which the child receives the primary trauma leading to the formation of autism.
Unfortunately, the development and filling of other vectors in autism is also significantly distorted. The traumatized sound vector has a significant impact on the development of all other innate qualities and properties of the child. Therefore, autistic children, with the same diagnosis, have an individual, different set of symptoms.
Using the knowledge of Yuri Burlan's system-vector psychology about vectors, it is possible to understand the nature of the symptoms and behavioral characteristics of a child accompanying autism and provide the best, differentiated approach and optimal conditions for rehabilitation for each specific child.
Conservativeness and dependence
The anal-sound combination of vectors in autism gives its own characteristic picture of the child's development. It can be very difficult for parents to cope with such a set of symptoms and establish productive contact with the child. The child's behavior is replete with a huge number of protests, visiting new places and even introducing new complementary foods becomes a real torture.
This is due primarily to the presence of the anal vector. Normally, it gives its owner conservatism, commitment to home, familiar things and way of life. A child with an anal vector vedOm and is very attached to his mother. It is difficult for him to start a new business, he is hard to adapt and really needs encouragement and patient attitude. He is slow, but solid. This is due to the fact that its properties are designed to ensure the quality of the work performed. At the same time, any rush knocks the child out of the calm rhythm, and he slows down even more - falls into a stupor. Whatever he does, he cannot be customized.
The child reacts to the wrong pressure (approach) with resentment and stubbornness, and physiologically - with constipation. Very often this is accompanied by refusal to go potty and other potty training problems.
If the anal vector does not receive the proper development of its innate properties (in the case of autism this is exactly the case), then the natural characteristics of the child acquire a pathological form. Let's consider how this can be overcome using the approach of systems-vector psychology.
Features of behavior, protest against everything new
To better understand the roots of a child's problem behavior, let's see how distortions in the development of the anal vector in autism can manifest themselves.
A small autistic with an anal vector in infancy often has problems with feeding. Mothers note that the child's posture is tense or, conversely, too sluggish and relaxed, it is difficult for him to take the breast. Frequent regurgitation occurs, the child develops constipation.
Later, when the child learns to walk, parents note extreme sluggishness in movements, poor coordination, and later development of any motor skills. In the behavior, lethargy, lethargy are observed, the child can engage in the same ritual, repetitive action for hours.
Attempts to interrupt his occupation and switch to something else cause strong protest. If, in addition to the anal vector, in the vector set of such a child there is also a skin one, then we observe changes in activity: from lethargy and lethargy to hyperactivity and disinhibition.
Huge difficulties arise at the very first attempts to introduce complementary foods. The child rejects new types of food, there is a commitment to a very narrow range of food that the child accepts. Even in the very environment of feeding, the child creates a certain ritual - for example, he agrees to eat only from a certain plate or only in a certain room and in no other place.
Rituals are generally a symptom characteristic of the anal-sound autistic. Even a healthy person with an anal vector is conservative, attached to a familiar environment, honoring traditions. In autism, such features take the form of a painful obsession, severe symptoms that aggravate the child's social maladjustment.
The child strictly follows the usual regimen and daily routine - this is something that, under stress, somehow stabilizes and calms him down. Any changes are perceived with a categorical protest, tk. they immediately take him out of his delicate balance. Such children choose a ritual walking route and force their parents to follow it day after day.
Extreme negativism towards everything new is manifested: the arrival of a stranger in the house is perceived "with hostility", even the child does not accept new clothes right away. The inevitable visit to new places (for example, the need to visit the hospital or pick up shoes for the child in the store) is accompanied by a cry, protest, aggression or self-aggression in the child.
In the anal-sound autistic, aggression generally arises easily - in response to any experience associated with the inconsistency of the situation with his natural needs. Such children often demonstrate cruelty to animals and people, even to family members, break toys. Later, when the child begins to establish minimal contact with others, he may use aggression as a means of establishing contact: for example, biting the child with whom he wants to play.
One of the reasons for cruelty is resentment against the mother, the other is the lack of emotional connection with other people, lack of understanding of their actions. Why such reactions arise, and how to help a child overcome them - this topic is discussed in more detail at one of the free online lectures on systemic vector psychology by Yuri Burlan.
The need for cleanliness and order
It is in the anal-sound autistic that the so-called "identity phenomenon" can be observed. It is expressed in the child's desire to painfully arrange things in the house: even the TV remote control should lie on the shelf at exactly this angle, and nothing else. If someone has moved a thing from its usual place, the child will certainly straighten it.
All this is also closely related to the features of the anal vector. It asks its owner the need for systematization and ordering (knowledge, things - everything), an analytical mind. In the absence of the normal filling of these properties in constructive activity, the child, as it were, gains pleasure in his desires in such an accessible way. And it will manifest itself in this way until we, understanding its features, carefully and gradually offer it an activity that will fill it more. So, there is also a special need for cleanliness - for example, such children protest when drops of drink or food crumbs get on their clothes. The concepts of "clean" and "dirty" are of key importance for a person with an anal vector. With proper development, the child strives for cleanliness and order, with severe deviations, the opposite tendency appears.
Mom and a sense of security
Such a child has a special relationship with the mother. In early childhood, there is a very close symbiotic relationship, the child does not let go of the mother for a second, her absence causes negative, protest reactions (babies with an anal vector are the most dependent on their mother). Later, such an attitude can be replaced by the exact opposite - rejection of the mother and aggression towards her (a consequence of an erroneous approach in raising a child).
As long as such a child grows up in a familiar environment and rigidly sets the rules that parents are forced to follow, his condition is relatively stable. Such a child is often diagnosed after a forced move to a new place of residence, hospitalization, or the first attempt by a parent to take the child to a resort. Such an abrupt change in the situation causes a whole set of neurotic and psychotic symptoms in the anal-sound autistic, a violation of autonomic functions and even a regression of already acquired skills.
Sound ecology guidelines
First of all, it should be remembered that the child received the primary trauma in the sound vector. Therefore, all possible negative sound effects in a child's life should be minimized. Music should be played only very quietly, preferably classical. It is better to protect your child from the noise of household appliances such as a hairdryer, vacuum cleaner or blender.
Any conversation in a raised tone or carrying offensive meanings is destructive for the child's psyche, even if it does not relate directly to him (for example, parents sort things out among themselves). Only after a certain "sound ecology" has been established in the house, can we talk about special educational measures that will help in the education of an anal sound specialist.
When an autistic child has an anal vector, stability and predictability of the environment and routine become a fundamental condition for his upbringing. Without this, the child loses a sense of security and safety, which is why he shows all sorts of protest reactions up to aggressive tendencies. In fact, he himself thus seeks to maintain a stable and predictable environment for himself.
But life always makes its own adjustments to our plans. It is impossible to maintain the same ritual conditions for many years, and this does not correspond to the concept of a child's social adaptation. How can you make this process easier for the anal sound professional? How to help him more easily accept new conditions and circumstances?
Food and living conditions
Sometimes, the adherence of the anal-audible autistic to only a certain type of food just drives parents crazy. You can often hear stories that at the age of 5 such a child eats only homogeneous cereals for babies. It is not difficult to imagine what damage the body of such a child receives, because from such a diet it is impossible to derive a set of vitamins and microelements necessary for this age. Therefore, until the child adapts to a normal diet for his age, it is very important to additionally use vitamin and mineral complexes recommended by specialists.
Introducing new food into the diet of such a child should be gradual, starting with a micro dose. The task is to make the taste familiar and commonplace for him. The texture of the food should also be changed gradually: if while the child is eating only a homogeneous mass, then using a blender, you can gradually change the degree of grind so that the food particles become a little larger each time.
Of course, it is absolutely unacceptable to rush the anal sound specialist, especially while eating. Let the feeding last as long as the baby is comfortable with. Eating should be done in a calm, quiet environment. If a child shows adherence to some unusual feeding place (for example, a balcony) and categorically refuses to eat in other conditions, then he should not be transferred to the kitchen or dining room immediately. Perhaps he will drink his favorite juice there too.
With the help of your favorite foods, gradually encourage your child to eat in the proper place. The items familiar to the child related to feeding will help you with this - a favorite bib, the only mug from which the child agrees to drink, etc.
As for clothes and household items, you can rely on the anal child's innate desire for orderliness and gradually teach him which shelf the T-shirts are on, where to put books, and where to put paints and pencils. Such children will gladly take part with their mother in the process of putting things on the shelves after washing and ironing. As a result, it will be much easier for the child himself to find a certain thing in his usual place.
A separate history of anal-sound autists is associated with the potty. Often, such children have constipation, as a result, pot avoidance or disgust arises. The main condition is that you should never rush an anal child when he is sitting on a potty, and even more so punish him for dirty pants. In this matter, only the patience of the parents and their calm, unperturbed attitude to what is happening can help the child overcome his difficulties.
As far as clothing is concerned, the protests in the anal vector refer specifically to its novelty. It is the texture of an unusual tissue, its touch, which can be intolerable to a skin child. But for the anal-sound autistic it is the very fact that the thing is new, unusual that matters. You can cope with this gradually: first, determine a place in the closet for a new thing, then try it on several times on your beloved bear, etc.
Predictability of space and time
New people, new circumstances, new travel routes. Life does not stand still, and you cannot close yourself in four walls and hope that the development of the child will become adequate. How can you help an anal sound specialist go out into the world? How to teach him to calmly adapt the inevitable changes, without which life itself is impossible?
The only way is to make everything new in a child's life predictable, that is, expected and planned, as much as possible. Special methods will help in this, for example, creating a visual poster with a daily routine.
Parents can make the poster "My Day" on their own, but sometimes it is also found on sale, in specialized stores where all kinds of developmental aids are sold. If you buy a ready-made poster, you still need a little work on modifying it.
Such a poster should have some stationary, unchangeable images (meals, washing, sleeping, etc.). The rest of the regime moments (for example, a walk in the morning or free time in the evening) are made in the form of a transparent window, where, if necessary, you can insert a photo or picture.
You will also have to stock up on a whole arsenal of drawings or photos of those places, circumstances or people that the child may hypothetically encounter. For example, for a walk, it can be a photo of a park, river, playground, play center. For free evening time - an image of TV (watching cartoons), toys or photos of family friends who may come to visit you at this time.
Even in the evening, you need to prepare the child for the events of the coming day. With your child, fill in the empty transparent windows with the appropriate images. The next day should be a clear and understandable, predictable chain of events for the child. For example, after washing and breakfast we go to the park, then lunch and nap, and in the evening grandfather will come to visit, before going to bed - watching a cartoon and an evening shower.
Throughout the day, draw your child's attention to the poster. Remind me what the next action will be. In practice, many parents have already verified that this method helps to minimize child protests, even when visiting such unpleasant places as a hospital. The main thing is that the anal baby knows about this in advance.
When creating a favorable environment for the development of the child, autistic people begin to understand speech better with age. When clarity is no longer so important, you can simply talk to your child about the events of the coming day, and then repeatedly remind their sequence throughout the day.
Change of residence and vacation travel
The most stressful situation for an audiophilic autistic is a change of residence. It may be associated not only with the family's relocation, but also with the forced hospitalization of the child or going on vacation. In such conditions, the child's usual world is crumbling, he has nothing to rely on.
It is better to make decisions about changing the place of residence only when the child is already relatively ready to adapt such changes. If, working with the poster "My Day", you have already managed to achieve a normal child's reaction to various circumstances and conditions, then you can try to go on vacation for a short time (for example, on the weekend).
The principle that is used in this case for the successful adaptation of the child can be defined as "a corner of the home." Yes, parents will have to carry bulky trunks, but there's nothing you can do about it.
Do you want your child to eat normally on vacation? Take with you your favorite bib and utensils that your child is used to at home. To avoid problems with sleep, you need to take with you the child's bedding, which he used at home. All items that will help you recreate the atmosphere of your home in a new place will play a huge positive role. And of course, do not forget to take the child's potty from home - this is sacred! He may flatly refuse to use a new pot bought on vacation.
The same principle of adaptation should be used when a family moves to a new place of residence. But in this case, it is better to carry out the "resettlement" gradually. For the first time, it is better to come to a new apartment with a child for just a couple of hours, to play. Send toys that are familiar to him in advance. Next time you can take with you everything you need to try to feed the baby in new conditions. After a while, try to stay with him there for a nap. When the child is happy to spend a long time in the new house, you can move in permanently.
Alas, it is almost impossible to prepare in advance for the situation of a child's forced hospitalization. However, doctors usually allow you to take your child's bedding, dishes and a small amount of toys and books with you. These are your keys to minimizing the stress of your child's hospital stay.
And, of course, the mother (the main person for the baby with the anal vector) must be there. Strongly insist on the joint stay of the baby with the mother in the same room. If it is possible to pay for a separate room for a mother and child, be sure to do it. In addition to the stress of the new environment and hospital procedures, the child does not need anything else and additional stress from the many new faces around.
Understanding a child means helping him
This article lists some of the most common situations faced by parents of autistic children, but the anal-sound combination of vectors is just one of the possible. One person can have 3-4 vectors, and even more.
To understand all the nuances of a child's behavior, it is important to better understand his characteristics. The training in systemic vector psychology by Yuri Burlan for the first time makes it possible to understand the causes of the formation of this disease and explains all facets of the manifestations of a child with autism, what is wrong with him, what exactly he needs, allowing him to understand his child at a completely new level. This knowledge allows parents to learn how to cope with emerging difficulties on their own, gives strength, helping in such a difficult matter as raising an autistic child.
