The slight tension was quickly forgotten in the hectic days. Meanwhile, a new disease spread to a neighboring country, which was perceived as very distant. In a couple of months, COVID-19 made the whole world talk about itself. On March 11, for every inhabitant of the Earth, "not yet here" has turned into "already everywhere."

How will the coronavirus change the world and society? And are we ready to meet these changes with dignity?
Ancient battle
A virus is a non-cellular life form. However, this particle carries in itself what unites it with all cells - genetic information. The only way a virus can multiply is to embed its DNA or RNA into a cell and seize power over its vital processes for its own purposes. With the help of these weapons, the "genetic parasite" has successfully spread throughout the living world for billions of years. And life developed and became more complicated, creating species diversity on the planet, with it growing the variety of viruses.
This is how the centuries-old co-evolution of two forms of life took place. Each time the virus was "pumped" in the methods of attack, the cell was mobilized. Having successfully repelled the attack and saved her life, she moved to a new level - formed the immune system, complicated the structure of the body. And we, as representatives of the last multicellular organism - Homo sapiens sapiens, continue to fight viruses to this day.
Invincible Achilles
The virus was first discovered by humans only 130 years ago, at the end of the 19th century. Having become apparent, the creature causing previously unexplained diseases was immediately named: virus - poison. When the skeleton steps out of the dark closet into the light, it becomes obvious that it is naked and vulnerable. In a sense, at that moment, the virus suffered a serious defeat. The man was given cards in hand to examine the enemy's weaknesses from all sides.
The best scouts of the microworld were involved in the mission to save humanity from disease. They were called to create a weapon that would put a small non-cage into a non-life state. They invented drugs that prevent the virus from entering our cells and enslaving them, they invented vaccines and methods of prevention, a science appeared - epidemiology. Medicine has learned to save people, even those on the brink of death. However, a complete victory was not possible. One can only "agree" on a longer preservation of the status quo. The virus always has a trump card up its sleeve.
Around the same period of the 19th century, when we recognized the enemy "by sight", the world stepped into a superfast phase of development. It began with the birth of a new, industrial society. Rapid progress has covered all areas of our lives. The capitalist economy has put production on an industrial footing. This led to restructuring in philosophy and sociology. The beginning of the 20th century is an era of new vision in literature and music. Finally, thanks to Z. Freud, the mechanisms of the human psyche began to open up to the world.
A little over a century has passed, but look how different the old world is from the modern world. We abolished serfdom, made a revolution, returned rights to the oppressed. They even coped with the destructive ideas of fascism. With the help of technology, they defeated hunger and created a single world community - the Internet. However, in parallel with us, the virus also actively evolved.
We have mastered every warm place on the planet, settled in all corners. We have changed the planet beyond recognition. Our desires have grown to incredible proportions. Now we want to colonize Mars, and not just conquer neighboring states. Each of us wants to receive unlimited pleasure. In pursuit of their own happiness, people have created a modern society in which cooperation between people serves to achieve these goals. But this was not enough to survive the pandemic.
Unsurprisingly, the virus hit the most vulnerable place - right through our fragile ties. We had to suspend monetary, economic and labor relations. We postponed the joy of face-to-face meetings, hugs and kisses until better times. Communication remained only in the virtual network, our augmented reality. Yes, we are still able to support each other with our hearts, at a distance, but the panic virus has reached this thread.
The virus separated us physically (it seems we wanted it?) And forced us to stay at home. Locked in cages like dangerous beasts. Otherwise, we would have eaten each other out of fear. Only one invisible connection is too tough for a cunning microorganism. Provided that we make it stronger.

But "there would be no happiness": when else would we have listened to scientists-microbiologists. For centuries, researchers of the microcosm have remained unnoticed rescuers of humanity. Many of them, especially in our country, sacrificed themselves and loved ones without hesitation. This is the work of scientists: risking themselves and even infecting themselves, they are looking for a cure to heal the whole world. During epidemics, they, together with doctors, are the only ones who are competent in matters of our safety.
Searching for and analyzing the causes of events is very important. But often, without understanding it, you can make hasty conclusions. Such an approach will not help solve the problem, but will only increase the division of society. We are all connected and will not survive alone. It is pointless to judge someone in a situation like today. In difficult times, it is much more useful to seek the strength within yourself to unite with all people.
All of us, before inventing a microscope for looking at other people's "specks", it would be nice to get a telescope to study the "native log". Today the virus clearly shows how important it is to protect others from yourself. Do not be afraid to get infected, but be afraid to infect others.
A new level of relationship

What does the current situation say? The virus offers us another test of humanity: Will we take care of the elderly, understanding the difficulty of their situation? Doctors often face difficult choices: who to save first? Traditionally, preference is given to the young, those who have more strength to cling to life. Will this approach continue after the COVID-19 pandemic, or is a restructuring inevitable in the ethical principles of health care?
We, ordinary people who are not at the forefront of the fight against the disease, need to do the very little thing - to minimize the possible spread of the virus, that is, to observe quarantine. This measure is our help to the elderly. After all, without even getting sick ourselves or having transferred the virus in a mild form unnoticed for ourselves, each of us can become a potential carrier of an infection that is dangerous for the elderly and weakened people.
For those who are ready to help actively, there is an opportunity to join the volunteer movement to deliver food and medicine to those in need. It is good to see that mainly young people are involved in this business.
By preserving old people, a young man ensures his future. He is no longer afraid for his future - he knows that they will also take care of him in old age. He feels confident in the future, which means he is happy with today. The joy of good relationships between people is our impenetrable shield from viruses, the basis of herd immunity.

It turns out that we are tightly connected, which means that the life of the whole world depends on the actions of everyone. And the Russian people are not used to responsibility at all. Helping our neighbor in difficult times, justice, mercy and striving for deeds are sewn into us through the mentality.
Our grandparents experienced tremendous joy in life, although it fell on the hardest times. There is no doubt that the Soviet people had the strongest immunity in the world. Why? They built a happy future, believed in it, lived for it, this is what gave them the strength to survive the hardships in the present. Only "Full speed ahead" inspires a person to achieve. If we do not lose the continuity from our ancestors, then we will make a breakthrough.
When everyone thinks: “I am afraid of harming the health of others, I am afraid to infect others with fear, panic, bad mood,” then the virus will lose its easy prey. When a person is filled with happiness, he cannot keep it in himself. From the very center of the hot heart, it will seep into a smile, glow in the eyes and instantly spread to everyone around. Conscious "I love you, life!" is a virus that cannot be stopped.
We happened to live in an amazing time of humanity's transition to the next stage of development. It's a challenge. But it is in our power to act ahead of the curve today for a happy life in paradise - tomorrow.
