About the bloodiest movie of the 90s
The film "Pulp Fiction" by the American director Quentin Tarantino exploded the character of independent cinema creation like a rocket, influencing the tendencies and images of mass culture of the XX century.
After its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 1994, Pulp Fiction is an instant sensation and cultural phenomenon in cinema. The absurd combination of violence, black humor and pop culture did not fit into any genre format of the time. Either a farce, or a comedy, or a gangster thriller …
The plot of the film consists of a series of overlapping stories in the Los Angeles crime scene. According to the author's intention, the chronological order of what is happening is violated. The beginning of the film is part of the ending that follows three main stories.
Two unlucky gangsters - Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield - do the dirty work for their boss Marcellus Wallace. In parallel, eclectic dialogues are conducted about hamburgers, the Bible and the prose of the life of ordinary killers. A loving couple of petty burglars - Ringo and Yolanda - are planning another raid in the same cafe where they have breakfast. Professional boxer Butch Coolidge accepts money from the mafia for losing a match and then breaks the contract. Other minor characters, in various circumstances, are associated with the main characters through the prism of the criminal world.
The name Pulp Fiction speaks for itself. In the middle of the twentieth century, "tabloid magazines" with dubious content were popular in America. The reader was attracted by kitsch dialogues, mixing of incongruous genres and catchy covers, sometimes with scenes of violence. This idea was taken as the basis of the film. "Pulp Fiction" confuses the viewer with a ragged narration and leaves open the question - "What is the meaning of this movie?"
System-vector psychology of Yuri Burlan helps to understand the meaning of the film "Pulp Fiction" and the work of Quentin Tarantino.
Being a thug is not cool
Quentin Tarantino uses the theme of violence in his films without any moral justification or false romanticism. A genius of the imagination, he devalues the images of criminals through a strange landscape of fantasy and allegory.
Shows criminals as they are - greedy, soulless, often stupid and superficial, and not deliberately exalted, as, for example, in the gangster saga "The Godfather" and the TV series "Brigade", where killers and thieves are brought into a romantic row.
In real life, a criminal is not a noble hero who lives by the principle of justice, but one who lives at the expense of normal people, parasitizing on society with a threat to everyone's safety.
The roots of crime cannot be benevolent. Criminals are archetypal people who have not developed their properties to the level of service to society. Some of them think in schemes of theft, scams and fraud. This nature of crime is characteristic of people with undeveloped skin vector. It is not difficult for them to deceive, set up, lie, "throw a sucker." Their main goal is to make a profit at any cost. Other people serve only as a means of achieving the next profit.
The violent nature of crimes (beating, murder or rape) is associated with underdevelopment or frustration in the anal vector. A person in such a state of mind will not be loyal to his own, but to strangers will be merciless. In the name of a desire to prove to the offender his innocence, a certain truth, he will deal with anyone. First of all, with loved ones. Domestic violence is committed by frustrated people with an anal vector.
The image of the urethral thief in law, as a kind of symbol, an instance of justice on the other side of Themis, fits well with the peculiarities of our mentality. We often romanticize such a Robin Hood who creates judgment on his own freedom-loving impulse. However, in fact, the urethral offender is very dangerous, since, due to innate qualities, it is unpredictable and not limited in the forms of crime. Possessing the natural properties of a leader, he attracts and consolidates bandits around him, creating groups, drug cartels, gangs and mafia clans.
The danger of creating false images in films
Cinema, as a manifestation of culture in society, can and should serve as a way to contain hostility between people and preserve the integrity of society. With the help of plots and images shown in films, you can instill moral guidelines, raise the patriotic spirit or set the right direction of thought.
The reverse side of cinema is the creation of false images and attitudes, the romanticization of crime and immorality. In such a movie, we see a handsome bandit with supposedly high ideals. He values family, respects friendship, women. He is generous, intelligent, with a developed intellect, but at the same time he robs, deceives and kills mercilessly. Or a sensual skin-visual prostitute with noble thoughts, but an unhappy fate.
This creates a dangerous illusion. We sympathize with such heroes, we feel natural sympathy. Killing people or selling your body for money involuntarily changes the sign. As a result, pulling, backdoor, connections, bribery is regarded as the norm. Cheating, punishing, revenge is getting cool.
In the film "Pulp Fiction" we see how stupid Vincent Vega ends his life. No romance. Handsome, but not very smart, drug addict, who does not have any special goals in life, he does not die beautifully in the toilet, by an absurd accident, shot by his own victim.
The main boss of the mafia - Marsellus Wallace, who terrifies the Los Angeles area, untouchable, rich and cruel - is accidentally captured by sadistic perverts and is sexually raped. After watching such an action, we involuntarily lose the desire to watch movies with thug romance.
Crime and correction
The film touches upon the topic of freedom of choice so that the viewer understands that it is never too late to return to the righteous path, which brings more pleasure than parasitizing on society. So, Jules decides to leave the crime and, unlike Vincent, realizes a different life path. Boxer Butch, who is hunted by the thugs of Marcellus, makes a choice in the direction of saving his enemy and in exchange gets freedom instead of pursuit.
We can only guess how, according to the director's plan, the life of Jules, Butch and other minor characters could have developed. When it comes to criminals in reality, the chances of returning to normal life in society are small. Insufficient development of vectors, psychological trauma give rise to archetypal thoughts inside a person, and he will not feel remorse when committing crimes.
A normal person cannot easily kill or rape. Taboos and cultural constraints regulate his behavior, and it is natural for him to feel fear of punishment, unlike the criminal. Once crossed the line, the criminal destroys the natural systems of taboo that restrain criminal impulses, and loses these restraints. In order to return the broken taboos to their place, it is necessary to understand how our psyche is arranged and according to what natural laws human society lives and develops.
