The word penetrates directly into the psyche - immediately into the unconscious. The auditory analyzer is directly connected with additional desires, with the unconscious that lives on us. Therefore, until recently, great importance was attached to the word: it had a special effect and there was a special regulation of the use of words. In the era of romanticism, for a wrong, carelessly spoken word, they were challenged to a duel. And for the wrongly brought news was executed.
For all its power, the word was not so significant then: our desires did not have such a volume, the psyche was smaller, therefore there was no colossal impact on a person. Today desire has grown, and the word already has super-impact. We rely on information when making decisions. Therefore, in order to reduce the danger of self-destruction, the power of the word is leveled today, inflation of words occurs. Today you can say what you want. People say words without even knowing their meaning. You can write "love" and "hate" without really implying.
When we create ads, we write the best words - and almost no impact. The word has lost any meaning. There used to be a lofty concept of a word, people stood behind it, there was a concept of a "man's word" … Today there is no such thing. The psyche has grown - the word is leveled, the danger is removed. Along with the leveling of the word, poetry and literature go away. Previously, they read Dostoevsky, trying to understand the mysterious soul, and classical literature raised the reader to the level of the one who writes. And today we have grown up. Therefore, there is practically no demand.
